Council Notes

I thought I'd share with you a few of the highlights from last night's church council meeting.

A major item on the agenda was a proposed budget for 2006-2007. Included in the new budget are estimates for some capital improvements. We've already borrowed money to pay for the water and sewer connection on the east side of the church, but we don't know what additional expenses might be related to that. We also hope to extend the sidewalk along Merle Avenue all the way to the corner.

One major increase in the budget is in the area of outreach/evangelism. We included funds to be able to send out mass mailings a few times a year. We also allowed for some other publicity materials, such as a new color brochure.

We also decided to make plans to put together a new pictorial directory this spring. You'll see more information coming out on that in the coming weeks.

We recently upgraded our wireless lavalier microphones, so we talked about other improvements to our sound system. Soon we'll be adding a new overhead mic to pick up the congregational singing, especially for the sake of the webcast. People who have been watching the webcast online have had troubles hearing when the pastor's microphones are off.
